Asset transfers are handled state by state when it comes to Medicaid rules. Further, most states utilize a look-back period, commonly 5 years, that they will review to determine if the state has incurred a care cost that could have been paid by elderly individuals. Probably best to pursue discussing all of this with an elder law attorney as Liz mentioned.
