Hi Spencer and LWeston
Thank you both for your input.
As I understand it, her late father had an account at Citibank. On presentation of the various legal documents, I believe that Citibank agreed to transfer her father’s funds (her inheritance) from his account to a new account opened by Citibank in her name.
Apparently she had to borrow $5000 to activate this new account with Citibank. I do not understand why this was necessary as her new account already had ample funds in it. However, having paid this money in, she claims to have been informed by Citibank that she needs to pay in $19800 to clear her existing debts with a different bank and debts on credit cards, none of which have anything to do with Citibank.
As I understand the situation, Citibank or Chexsystems are somehow preventing her from accessing her account at Citibank!
This situation seems patently absurd to me. That’s as much as I know.
Something is definitely not right here
Again, thanks to all concerned for your consideration and input on this matter.
