A ski vacation is a fabulous way to experience the wonder of nature while also taking in the sights of the surrounding area.
With so many fabulous ski destinations from which to choose, it’s hard to pick a favorite, but here are a few reasons why Park City, Utah makes the cut as our choice for your next ski vacation.
Getting to Park City with travel rewards
Park City is located just 25 miles southeast of Salt Lake City International Airport, meaning you can be on the slopes the same day you arrive.
Having a rental car will provide you with flexibility in terms of getting to and from the airport and zipping around the Park City area. Travelers can take advantage of Avis’ collaboration with Amazon whereby Amazon customers receive up to 30% off base car rental rates 10% back in an Amazon.com gift card after the rental is complete. Amazon Alexa customers get even more, with 20% back in an Amazon.com gift card.
Southwest Airlines offers flights to Salt Lake City from a variety of domestic departure points, so you’d be wise to consider signing up for one of Southwest’s Rapid Rewards Visa cards, through which you’ll be eligible to earn a Companion Pass 30,000 points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open. Note that this offer runs through Feb. 11, 2019, so you’ll want to act quickly.
When it comes to finding lodging for your Park City vacation, you’ll be pleased to learn that, when you book a minimum three-night stay at a participating Park City property from now through April 7, 2019, you’ll receive a $300 Delta Air Lines digital gift card (certain restrictions and blackout dates apply).
Ski and snowboard at two world-class resorts
Park City offers skiing and snowboarding at two renowned resorts, including Park City Mountain and Deer Valley Resort. Within the Park City Mountain area, you’ll find over 7,300 acres of skiable terrain across two separate base areas, including Park City Mountain and Canyons, which are linked by the Quicksilver Gondola. Park City Mountain’s diverse terrain makes it perfect for all ages and abilities. The resort’s new High Meadow Park is ideally suited for families and includes a high-speed quad dedicated to a family learning area.
At nearby Deer Valley Resort, visitors can couple their ski experience with luxe amenities including award-winning hotels, ski valets, perfectly-groomed slopes, on-site child care and gourmet dining.
Activities beyond the slopes
Park City itself is a charming town. Take a walk along the town’s historic Main Street, where you’ll find shops and restaurants, as well as the Park City Museum, which showcases the area’s history as a mining town and ski paradise.
Adrenaline junkies will delight in visiting Utah Olympic Park, where visitors can climb aboard a bobsled and speed down the same track used in the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games. Or take a ride on the Park City Alpine Coaster.
Time your Park City visit to coincide with the annual Sundance Film Festival and you’ll be treated to a first look at new films.
