CHUBB: BEST HOMEOWNERS SERVICES
Chubb is well-regarded for its services to customers, including Wildfire Defense Services, which provides hazard assessment and fire-prevention assistance to customers in select areas with wildfire threats.
Chubb’s HomeScan service uses infrared cameras to look behind customers’ walls and ceilings to identify potential water, electrical and other problems. Chubb is rated A++ (Superior) by A.M. Best.

USAA sells only to current and former members of the military and their families and is committed to its mission of top service for those families. USAA has the best financial strength rating available from A.M. Best, at A++ (Superior).

We used the following data, weighted equally on a 30-point scale, to evaluate large home insurance companies and assign star ratings on a scale of 0 stars to 5 stars:
- J.D. Power property claims satisfaction scores for 2017.
- J.D. Power homeowners insurance customer satisfaction scores for 2017.
- Complaints to state regulators as tabulated by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
In cases of a points tie, NAIC complaint data were used to break the tie.
