Comparison shopping is key to getting cheap car insurance in Arkansas. Policies with the same coverage options can have very different prices depending on the insurer, so settling for the first estimate you get might mean losing out on a better deal elsewhere.
To help you get a better picture of Arkansas car insurance, cheatgame.info looked at rates from the nine largest companies in the state. Below you’ll find the three most affordable options for common driver profiles:

Cheapest for good drivers
For drivers with no DUIs, at-fault crashes or moving violations.
For good drivers in Arkansas, the average rate among the three cheapest insurers was $1,025, or about $85 per month. Geico offered the best deal among insurers we looked at, with State Farm and Shelter Insurance rounding out the list of cheapest insurers for drivers with clean records.
To keep costs down, good drivers should look for discounts for being accident-free, which are available from all three companies above.
Cheapest for young drivers
For drivers in their early 20s.
Shoppers in their early 20s typically tend to buy policies with less coverage, which means lower rates.
Geico notched the lowest average price at $506 per year, which comes to about $42 a month. That’s $430 less than the best rate for 30-year-old good drivers with fuller policies.
Cheapest for drivers with one at-fault crash
Causing a car accident typically leads to higher car insurance rates, either when you renew with your current company or when you shop around for a new policy. The cheapest average price we found for this group of drivers was $271 more per year than the lowest estimate for drivers of the same age with no crashes.
Even if you have a blemish on your record, it’s important to check out prices from a few companies. There was a nearly $2,400 difference between the lowest and highest rates in our analysis; comparing several quotes will help you avoid the highest prices and find competitive deals.
Cheapest for drivers with poor credit
For drivers placed in the “poor credit” tier.
You might wonder what your credit has to do with your car insurance. In most states, including Arkansas, companies can use a credit-based insurance score to help predict how likely applicants are to file claims. If you have less than ideal credit, you could face steeper costs.
Geico had the best deal for this group with an average rate of $1,525 per year. That’s $78 a month more than for drivers of the same age with no credit problems, according to our analysis.
Cheapest for retired drivers
For drivers in their mid- to late-60s.
Retirees significantly cut down on their annual mileage when they ditch the daily commute, so we took that into account in our analysis.
The three best rates we found were similar, but State Farm was the lowest at $797. That’s about $12 per month lower than the cheapest rate we found for a 30-year-old driver with a clean record in Arkansas.
Cheapest for drivers with a military connection
If you’re an active military member or veteran — or are an immediate family member of someone who is — chances are you’ll get a good rate with USAA, an option that isn’t available to the general public. The company offers the cheapest auto insurance rates for every driver type above, and USAA has top-rated customer service.
Minimum Arkansas car insurance requirements
Arkansas car insurance policies must include:
- $25,000 bodily injury liability per person
- $50,000 bodily injury liability per incident
- $25,000 property damage liability per incident
If you ever cause a crash, liability insurance pays for other people’s injuries and property damage, up to your limit. The minimum limits in Arkansas might not cover costs after an expensive car accident, so consider buying more coverage.
See cheatgame.info’s guide to minimum car insurance requirements by state.
Alternative car insurance for high-risk drivers
If you’re labeled a high-risk driver because of past crashes, DUIs or other factors, you may have trouble getting auto insurance on the traditional market. As an alternative, you can apply for a policy through the Arkansas Automobile Insurance Plan.
