The bottom line

Commerce Bank is a regional bank in the midwestern U.S. that maintains a few hundred ATMs and more than 150 branches. The bank maintains a presence in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma and Colorado. The checking and savings accounts have monthly fees that are relatively easy to avoid, but the bank charges several fees that you won’t find at many of the biggest national banks or online banks: a fee for leaving accounts inactive for a year and a fee for paper statements. Plus, interest rates on savings or CDs are low (if you want high rates, browse through our picks for best savings accounts).

Best if you live where Commerce Bank has a presence and you want a bank with a solid savings-goal feature.

Ratings methodology

cheatgame.info’s overall ratings for banks and credit unions are weighted averages of several categories: checking, savings, certificates of deposit or credit union share certificates, customer experience and overdraft fees.

Factors we consider, depending on the category, include rates and fees, ATM and branch access, account features and limits, user-facing technology, customer service and innovation.

The stars represent ratings from poor (one star) to excellent (five stars). Ratings are rounded to the nearest half-star.
