Overall

3.5

At TD Bank, a brick-and-mortar bank with a strong presence in the Eastern U.S., you’ll find straightforward accounts with average features. TD’s most attractive account may be Convenience Checking, which comes with a cool $150 bonus. To skirt the account’s $15 monthly fee, you’ll need to make sure you never dip below the $100 minimum daily balance.

4.0

You can choose among three main types of TD Bank checking accounts, including TD Simple, a no-minimum-balance account, and TD Premier, where you’ll earn a small amount of interest if you carry a balance of $2,500 or more. The drawback for TD Simple: It has a mandatory monthly fee of $5.99, but there are no transaction requirements.

To qualify for a bonus of $150 or $300, new customers need to open a checking account online and receive direct deposits of at least $500 (TD Convenience) or $2,500 (TD Premier) within the first 60 days.

Also of note: If you travel, TD Bank offers a nice perk — no foreign debit card transaction fees. And for customers who visit Canada, there’s no charge to use TD Canada Trust ATMs.

Unbelievably Horrible Service
Recently signed up online for the sign on bonus promotion (fund $2.5k, get $300 after 60 days) and just wanted another online savings/checking. It was easy to sign up, create account, and fund the account (cleared in a couple days). Went to sign in for first time and could not, the website only gave a customer service number. Customer service said there is no way to access my account online that I need to go to a branch. They could not do a password reset or anything. There was no indication that this would be the case when signing up and funding. I spent over an hour on the phone calling different branches. The closest branch is over 2.5 hours away... They would not close the account and refund the transfer over the phone. They would not offer any method other than in office visit with photo ID to access the account, even though they were easily able to take my $2.5k without an ID. They basically had my $2.5k hostage until I could take a day off of work and drive 2.5+ hours each way just to close this newly opened account. They admitted they knew this was an issue and had other people driving from far away, but have done nothing to fix it. They would not give any compensation for the trouble or reimbursement for the travel. Ridiculous. Just. Wow. Avoid at all costs.

The worst to finance with!
I regret financing through this bank! Let's start of with their outdated Not user friendly website! I had a problem since the first month because they make it so difficult to add a reoccurring automatic payment, I had so many fees thinking I had a monthly payment, they didn't send me no notifications, mail, phone call to let me know payments where not being submitted. I spend hours on there horrible costumer service to solve nothing! And call again the following month! Horrible horrible!!!
