JPMorgan Chase is one of the largest banks in the country, offering more services than many of its competitors. It provides mortgages, auto loans and one of the broadest selections of credit cards in the industry. And its website experience can compete with those at online-only banks that focus solely on checking and savings.

Chase has a good basic checking account, but its savings rates are generally low, and some of its fees are high and hard to avoid.

Checking

4.5

Chase offers several checking options, including its most basic account, Chase Total Checking®, and a couple that bear interest. Each gives users access to mobile banking, including online bill pay, and comes with a debit card that has a security-enhancing EMV chip.

There are a few ways for Chase Total Checking® account holders to avoid a monthly fee: have monthly direct deposits totaling $500 or more, keep a daily beginning balance of at least $1,500 or keep an average beginning day balance of $5,000 or more across certain Chase accounts.

Chase offers a $200 bonus on its Total Checking® account. See our list of best bonuses for details.

no interest to earn!
Tired of this bank offering next to nothing in their savings account! As big as this bank is, you would think they would give savers some sort of competitive interest rate on savings. I do use this account for my direct deposits and pay my bills, the web is easy to use and transfer funds but not for savings. I maintain 2 accounts for ease of use but I am moving some money to earn better rates for longer term savings.

Visited the bank to complete a transaction but I was told that there was only one teller and had to wait about 30-45 minutes. I returned the following day and I was told that there was only one teller and she was out to lunch. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that the manager was on vacation. I was told to go to another branch. They should close the Chase Bank on Roosevelt Ave! terrible service!!
